Who we are

Kinderhook Pride was established five years ago in 2021 to celebrate the large community of LGBTQ+ people in the town of Kinderhook. Over the years, it has grown into the joyous event it is today, attracting people from across Columbia County and the entire Hudson Valley.

Pride is a movement that is worldwide and first and foremost celebrates love, inclusion, and dignity for all. While it is a celebration, it’s also a call to action and a part of the ongoing fight for equal rights.

Friends of Kinderhook Pride is a committee that organizes and supports the event through fundraising and community coordination. It consists of local business owners, citizens, and activists who volunteer their time and efforts to bring this event to life.

Kinderhook Pride was founded by Cochair Amber van Moessner in 2022. Each year, we celebrate a Grand Marshall who represents the joy and creativity of the local Columbia County LGBTQIA+ community. In 2023 we developed the Junior Grand Marshall scholarship as a mutual aid fund to support young LGBTQIA+ people and the next generation of queer Kinderhookers.
